I wrote this whole post and skipped this section

I went back and forth trying to decide if I should tell you the whole story or just share the safe version. I had just accepted it only a few months earlier and felt on top of the world. I was coming from a senior position at an agency where, as a consultant, I was paid to tell people what I think.
