What are some of your favorite things to use in the kitchen?

I knew I wanted just plain white plates that would be a good base for any color napkins or chargers or smaller plates. I consider these a family heirloom (hopeful that my children will see it that way) and I absolutely love them. I have been on a quest for years and for a while I used these flour sack towels, which I still use and like very much.
